Stay Healthy This Easter: Choose Allergy Friendly Chocolate

Chocolate often contains nuts, dairy, gluten and other allergens

Chocolate often contains nuts, dairy, gluten and other allergens

Easter is coming and for chocolate lovers it is a more exciting time than Christmas.

As I gorge myself with chocolate I will have amazing recall for all of the articles that I have read supporting the healthy benefits of chocolate – reducing the risk of strokes – lowering blood pressure – reducing stress and … the ultimate aphrodisiac!

Unfortunately many brands of chocolate often have hidden nuts, gluten, egg and dairy products which can be menacing for those less fortunate than myself.

So if you have special dietary needs or are buying for someone that has, then be sure to read the label so as to avoid possible severe reactions.

Celebrate safely with allergy friendly Easter Eggs from:

(and no I am not on commission)

>> Sweet William Diary, Nut and Gluten Free Chocolate

>> Kinnerton Confectionary

>> AllergEase: Wheat and Gluten free foods

>> Carobana

According to the Australian Society of Clinical Immunology and Allergy:

  • Allergies occur in around 1 in 3 Australians at some time in their lives
  • Approximately 1 in 20 Australian children have a transient food allergy
  • Around 4000 Australians per year will have anaphylaxis
  • Peanut and stinging insect allergies are the most common causes of anaphylaxis.

Your post has come at exactly the right time! Just a week ago, I’ve was put on a gluten free diet. I was starting to think a death sentence was more appealing than an Easter without chocolate! :O

These are great links, thank you.
